A Million Monetas

I actually have been making a lot of finished garments lately, probably 2-3 a week. I'm hoping to continue with that, but also to write some posts about them and make some different patterns. I've been mainly making different versions of Colette's Moneta. Basic jersey dresses are definitely my go-to wardrobe staple. I pretty much never wear pants, so the Moneta is so easy to make in a million different ways that can be dressed up or down, and they are so comfortable! Comfort is a dealbreaker for me (and POCKETS obviously!) I know this pattern will be a staple in my wardrobe for a long time, but I also miss sewing with wovens. I keep putting it off because fit is such a huge issue for my body type, but I WILL DO IT! Watch this space...

Miette Cardigan!

Knitting a cardigan was at the top of my list of 2013 crafty adventures, and I'm sticking to it. I decided on the Miette pattern by Andi Satterlund because it looked do-able but still had some interest in the lace detail. Plus, I've seen so many cute versions of it all around the webs.

This is my first cardigan, and I'm loving the seamless contstruction. Im using a cotton blend yarn and its so soft and cool when knitted up. I cant wait to wear it- and it seems to be moving along so quickly! The photo below shows about a days worth of knitting. (Yes, I decided to shirk all other responsibilities on my day off and spend the whole day knitting....oops) Plus my new job as a nanny gives me a few hours to knit every afternoon while the kid naps, which is very nice. Stay tuned for updates!

A Girl's Best Friend

So here it is: my first post on the blog I've been meaning to start for.....years. I need a space to document the projects I start and a community to help motivate me to finish projects and show them off. I've been reading sewing and craft blogs for quite a while and I think I'd like to join in the fun. I'm preparing a few projects to post up here in the next week or two, but in the mean time here's a song from the movie "The Perils of Pauline" from 1947. The minute I heard it I said, "OH MY GOSH THAT'S ME." I'm sure most of you can relate! Not only is she singing about her BFF the sewing machine, but that goofy accent just seems like something silly you'd find me doing.
